Brenda Jean in the news!
January 19, 1990 – Journal of Success
Brenda Jean Patrick discusses being successful and the
importance of time management with Royse City seniors.
"Achieving begins with believing,” said
Brenda Jean Patrick, Region 10 consultant, to Royse City High School
seniors as a part of a two-day presentation on success January 9-10.
Patrick began her seminar by asking the seniors what they felt
success included. “Money, happiness, friends,” were
answers given by various students. Patrick then continued her speech
by describing the tools needed to become successful.
Students received an information booklet containing the principles
of time management and planning. Once major contributor to becoming
successful is time management. “It’s not how long you
spend on a task, but how effective you are,” Patrick said.
She went on to explain how to set priorities and define individual
goals.
Television, sleeping and procrastination were just three of the
thieves that cause people to waste time, according to Patrick. She
encouraged her audience to examine which problems result in personal
time loss. “Some people can’t say no or worry about
things,” she said. By discovering one’s time thieves,
people can eventually become in control their lives.
“Now I know how imperfect time is and that I need to start
planning more,” senior Paul Blair said.
“A major part of your life starts as soon as you cross that
stage,” said Patrick as students took notes and asked questions.
“You have to make the decision to be successful,” she
added.
